Founded in 1978 by Karina Simon, Karina’s Salon has been a staple in the Richmond community for over forty-five years. Known as a home-away-from-home for many, a world created to combine cutting-edge looks with a welcoming, familiar atmosphere.

Our stylists use knowledge and experience to shape custom styles for our clients – specializing in educating our clientele about how they can have their best look, not just the hottest new haircut or the freshest color. By consulting with you to learn about your lifestyle and what you want to achieve, the master team at Karina’s will help you find the beauty that’s all your own. Our personal approach is what sets our salon apart and keeps our customers coming back for more.

That personal approach was started by Karina when she first began her dream of being a hairstylist in 1966, starting Geometric Hair Company in 1978 before establishing Karina’s Salon on West Cary Street in 1992. Her business was an integral part of the rejuvenation and growth of Carytown as we see it today. A savvy business owner, Karina inspired and mentored many in the beauty industry. The name itself, “Karina”, has become an icon in the Richmond community and her legacy will live on through our new salon that she, her son William, and daughter-in-law Cathy curated and designed together.

Karina’s passion for making others feel special extended far beyond her work. Perfectly polished from head to toe herself, Karina found joy in making others feel just as beautiful. Always graceful and kind, Karina never met a stranger and could make anyone feel at ease. We are so excited to continue embodying that essence at our new location.
